Creating a Pup Tent – part 2
November 10, 2009  |  by Kernon Dillon  |  Advanced, Kernon Dillon, Particles, Texturing

This is the last part in the Pup Tent tutorial. In this part, we’ll be applying procedural textures for the different aspects of the tent, and then we’ll use a paint application to extract a background image for our scene. Back in Blender, we’ll create a ground area and also use Blender’s particles system to create grass. Finally, we’ll create render layers and use Blender’s compositing nodes to color correct things before doing a final render.

    1. Wow, very nice second tut.
I especialy loved the procedural rope material, simple but so amazing!
      Thanks for sharing your knowledges.

    2. great! excellent work! thanx a lot!

    3. As always, very useful stuff. Thanks a ton!

    4. Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad it was helpful. I was a little bit concerned about the pace, but I think it’s fine for intermediate level users.

    5. Great tutorial, Thanks Kernon!

    6. Enjoyed the second part just as much as the first one. Applying a texture on grass instead of color ramps, the rope texturing idea etc… Very nice, very educational. Thank you.

    7. Nice tutorial. Nice to see the render layers/nodes at work. Thanks that was really helpful.

    8. Both parts of this tutorial were really great. To me the green grass in the foreground and the dead grass in the background seem to make it hard to keep the final render from having a “cutout” effect. Maybe it could be solved by applying some DOF and blurring of the background image.

The grass creation was most informative. I haven’t had much experience with using the hair settings. Keep up the good work!

    9. hey kernon, really enjoying your tuts. a lot of fantastic information in here, mostly with nifty little tricks and pre-planning/pre-thinking.
      keep em comin! great info!
