Well we think so at least.
Blender Cookie is an off-spring of our parent site CG Cookie. With so much support from the blender community we were able to develop and dedicate a single site to blender education and information. Wes Burke, founder of CG Cookie and Mavenseed, and Jonathan Williamson, a blender foundation certified instructor and a well known community contributor from Montage Studio, have teamed up again to create and operate Blender Cookie. With the power of the internet, Skype and a few caffeinated drinks we have given birth to this project; and we still have never met in person.
Blender Cookie is a site dedicated to supplying consistent, high quality, blender education materials produced by certified trainers from around the globe. By offering high resolution streaming videos, written education, developer interviews and featured resources, we aim to be the central hub for blender education.
As one of the growing education leaders in the Blender education community, we want to be pro-active and support the community that is supporting us. We do this by paying each and every instructor on Blender Cookie for their time on their tutorials. We feel this is important as most of our instructors do this full-time and need to keep their lights on to power their computers to provide more education.
On the site we offer periodic free community downloads that may be used in commercial or personal projects. Most of these models are our own personal donations, or donations directly from the community.
We also have and will continue to donate to the Blender Foundation through projects like our 2010 Blender Training Series. We currently have donated over $3,000.00 to the foundation to ensure Ton and the crew are able to continue to devote their time and evolve Blender. We even were fortunate enough to become a Main Sponsor for the Durian project!
In our efforts to provide effective and consistent training, Blender Cookie’s training is authored by Blender Foundation Certified Instructors. We feel this is important when taking on the responsibility to provide education for such an exponentially evolving, viable 3D open source solution.
Be sure to stop by our F.A.Q. page, of if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, then our support page is ready and willing to accept questions.
Blender Cookie would not be possible without the help and support of these great sites, artists and services. Most of these are open source, or very low cost. Either way we really appreciate the support from these guys.
